About The Position

Logistics Data Analyst The Opportunity: The Data Analyst will work with a team to provide high-quality service to our customers in managing a portfolio of systems. This role is responsible for executing data management activities in data quality and data asset management. This position is a collaborative role that provides support for analysis and research into data structures, attribution, maintenance, and models to ensure alignment with the organization’s strategic data management direction. The Data Analyst is also responsible for maintaining the visibility and integrity of the portfolio’s data asset inventory by identifying and closing information gaps. The Data Analyst will work within an agile team to provide high-quality service to customers by applying analytical techniques to determine solutions based on client requirements within an IT services or solutions scope. The role involves analyzing and reverse-engineering business and technical artifacts to capture, store, and maintain metadata for systems within the portfolio. The Data Analyst may also develop and maintain data quality assessments and data profiles, and will work closely with functional and technical data stewards to present findings and recommendations. What You'll Do:

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience with data analysis, ETL development, metadata management, and improving enterprise-level data infrastructures
  • 5+ years of experience performing tasks such as SQL data analysis, data profiling, and reverse-engineering data artifacts, and collaborating with cross-functional teams on data governance
  • Experience with ETL or data movement software such as StreamSets, Databricks, or Jupyter Notebooks
  • Experience using SQL for data analysis, data quality, and data profiling activities, leading small teams of personnel to accomplish objectives, and optimizing ETL performance for enterprise data systems
  • Experience with a scripting language for automating data tasks
  • Experience creating data mapping documentation for databases, interfaces, and applications
  • Experience with Agile development environments and roles within Agile teams
  • Knowledge of working with large data sets in enterprise-level data warehousing or data lake environments
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in a CS field

  • Experience with Air Force logistics systems and data
  • Experience with Python for data manipulation and scripting
  • Experience in information management, including data design, data transformation, data governance, or other DAMA DMBOK-aligned practices
  • Experience in logical data modeling and applying data normalization techniques
  • Experience with data collection systems, strategies, and tools
  • Knowledge of requirements elicitation techniques in IT projects
  • Ability to interpret data, conduct statistical analysis, and provide actionable insights
  • Ability to demonstrate a logical, analytical mindset and communicate complex ideas effectively, both in writing and via diagrams
  • Possession of strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Analyze operational activities to obtain a quantitative, rational basis for decision-making and resource allocation.
  • Conceptually understand and convey complex topics related to data management, data governance, and data maturity to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Work with subject matter experts (SMEs) across organizations to collect and update business and technical metadata.
  • Reverse-engineer data models and other design or build artifacts to extract relevant business and technical metadata, and load into a metadata repository.
  • Review submitted data to detect data quality problems and anomalies, and assist with correcting current and historical data.
  • Perform analysis to determine how data can best be applied to benefit stakeholders.
  • Develop ETL routines to load and curate disparate data sets.
  • Analyze and reverse-engineer business and technical artifacts, including data models, data catalogs, design documentation, and interfaces.
  • Collaborate with functional and technical data stewards to present findings and provide recommendations.
  • Perform data quality assessments and develop data profiles to improve the integrity of enterprise data.
