The Logistics Coordinator at Cleveland-Cliffs is responsible for managing the private rail car fleet, ensuring timely rail shipments, and resolving logistical issues related to rail transportation. This role involves creating reports, maintaining records, and collaborating with various stakeholders to optimize rail operations and support the Logistics Manager.

  • Monitor rail shipments to ensure they are on schedule and address any delays or issues that arise.
  • Identify and resolve any logistical problems related to rail transportation, including delays, damages, or other disruptions.
  • Maintain accurate records of the railcars fleet in internal and external databases.
  • Provide fleet reports to yards and management daily, weekly, and monthly as needed.
  • Work with internal staff, railroads, and service providers to address railcar delays and problems due to incorrect orders, billing issues, overloads, misroutes, and railroad errors.
  • Audits, posts, and pays rail freight invoices.
  • Assist the Logistics Manager in other rail activities as required.
  • Bachelor's or associate degree; or two or more years related experience and training in rail logistics or scrap metal processing industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Possesses strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to think critically through the multiple-step processes and follow directions.
  • Ability to be on call.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Pre-employment background, physical, and hair drug screen required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
