About The Position

The Logistics Coordinator position will be an integral part of the Reworld Marine Transfer Station (MTS) operation, which has a long-term service agreement with New York City’s Department of Sanitation (DSNY). This position reports directly to the Logistics Manager to ensure the economical and efficient movement of intermodal containers and associated equipment while maintaining strict compliance with the organization’s values of safety, integrity, diversity, and accountability. The ideal candidate will be local to the NYC/Tri‑State area and able to support the operational needs of the facility. The role is based out of our Staten Island, NY office, where the Logistics Coordinator will be expected to work on‑site several days per week. The position also includes a hybrid schedule with periodic site visits and some flexibility to work from home as business needs allow. The Logistics Coordinator will be required to become fluent in all aspects of intermodal transportation (marine, terminal, rail, and over-the-road) and will be tasked with ensuring timely billing of railcars to Reworld Thermomechanical Treatment Facilities/Plants (TTF), communicating with our customer (DSNY), and communicating with our transportation partners. The Logistics Coordinator will be responsible for recording and managing data, preparing reports as required, and managing invoicing and expense reconciliations. This position requires the selected candidate to be an excellent communicator, professional, and results-driven, and to interpret transportation scenarios and respond proactively as conditions warrant, maintaining an open dialogue with facility managers, shift supervisors, and vendors throughout the project. Some travel is required to visit Reworld sites and vendor terminals.

Requirements

  • Minimum four years of experience in logistics, transportation coordination, rail operations, marine operations, terminal support, or truck‑based transportation activities.
  • Minimum two years of experience communicating across operational teams, vendors, transportation partners, or municipal customers.
  • Minimum two years of experience recording and managing operational data, preparing required reports, and performing invoicing and expense reconciliations.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret changing transportation conditions and respond proactively as needed.
  • Experience working within environments involving marine operations, terminal operations, rail transport, or truck‑based transport.
  • Experience coordinating with municipal or transportation‑service customers (such as DSNY or similar agencies).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to maintain open dialogue with DSNY, transportation partners, facility managers, shift supervisors, and vendors.
  • Professional, dependable, and results‑driven work style consistent with operational requirements.
  • Ability to maintain accurate operational records and support reporting needs.
  • Ability to support invoicing and reconciliation tasks with consistency and accuracy.
  • Capability to develop fluency in marine, terminal, rail, and truck‑based transportation processes.
  • Personal vehicle required for travel between Reworld facilities and transfer stations.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record.
  • TWIC card required upon hire; fee reimbursed by the company.

Responsibilities

  • Travel between Reworld facilities and transfer stations across New York and surrounding areas using a personal vehicle; mileage will be reimbursed in accordance with company policy.
