About The Position

The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that freight is moving from its original point to its final destination. This role requires the exercise of discretion and independent judgment in booking appropriate carriers, negotiating carrier rates, and resolving 'problem' loads. The coordinator must manage transportation arrangements from pre-pickup through delivery and communicate effectively with shippers, carriers, and team members. Building and maintaining carrier relationships is essential, as is servicing the company's customer base and advising carriers accordingly. The position demands urgency in dealing with issues such as claims, detention, OS&D, layover, and breakdowns. The coordinator is also responsible for maintaining proper updates on carriers assigned to RE Garrison and answering the brokerage phone line, directing calls to the correct person and acting as a resource to customers when appropriate. All Logistics Coordinators share responsibility for any freight available on the brokerage board and are expected to 'Get the Job Done' by staying as late as necessary to achieve required results. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

• College degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a business-related field preferred.
• Previous customer service and/or logistics experience preferred.
• Knowledge of the trucking industry is a plus.
