About The Position

This position requires direct involvement with specific departments to support the accurate receiving, distribution, and transportation of materials. The individual will be responsible for the daily movement of essential patient-related and non-patient-related items throughout Mayo Clinic, ensuring adherence to standards for professionalism, safety, security, and productivity. Responsibilities include delivering patient specimens, pharmaceuticals, surgical instruments, surgical implants, medical scopes, patient histories, staff educational material, inter-clinic mail, USPS mail, USPS packages under 50lbs, and various items including nuclear medicine materials. The role demands a high level of problem-solving skills to resolve issues related to materials that are not received or are delayed, collaborating with the supervisor and the affected work unit for solutions. The position also involves sustaining and complying with a broad range of policies and governmental regulations, assisting with projects, and new employee training as directed by management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • Two years of hospital, customer service, or business-related experience preferred.
  • Valid MN Driver's License and an excellent driving record required.
  • Strong computer skills, problem-solving abilities, and continuous improvement skills.
  • High level of concentration, memory retention, attention to detail, and ability to work independently without direct supervision.
  • Exceptional communication and human relation skills.
  • Ability to adapt to unpredictable and stressful situations while maintaining a calm demeanor.
  • Ability to quickly develop plans to accomplish unexpected and time-sensitive requirements.
  • Sound judgment when given conflicting information.
  • Good knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office, with the ability to utilize spreadsheets and database management programs.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver patient specimens, pharmaceuticals, surgical instruments, surgical implants, medical scopes, patient histories, staff educational material, inter-clinic mail, USPS mail, and packages under 50lbs.
  • Resolve issues related to materials not received or delayed, collaborating with supervisors and affected work units.
  • Sustain and comply with policies and governmental regulations.
  • Assist with projects and new employee training as directed by management.
  • Timely processing of incoming calls and requests for delivery of specimens and other items.
  • Monitor, enter, and update requests in the tracking system for timely deliveries.
  • Work varied hours, including days, evenings, holidays, and weekends, with rotating days off.
