About The Position

As the Logistics and Transportation Manager, you'll be responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing domestic and international transportation and logistics operations, including the management of outbound wholesale purchase order (PO) shipments for key strategic customers. The role provides operational oversight and execution management through third-party logistics (3PL) partners and direct interaction with customer logistics systems. This position manages inbound and outbound freight across multiple transportation modes—LTL, TL, parcel (non-customer), and international air/ocean—and ensures wholesale shipments are scheduled, documented, and executed in accordance with customer routing guides, transportation systems, and service requirements. The Transportation & Logistics Manager is accountable for freight spend, KPI performance, and coordination with warehouse operations to ensure accurate and timely order fulfillment.

Requirements

  • 2–3 years of supervisory experience in distribution or logistics operations
  • 3–4 years managing transportation and shipping activities
  • 3–4 years managing 3PL partnerships (domestic and international)
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong working knowledge of Transportation Management Systems (TMS); experience acting as a power user and KPI owner preferred
  • Ability to forecast, analyze, and identify improvement opportunities using logistics KPIs
  • Understanding of consumer goods supply chains and quality control requirements
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English (speaking, reading, writing)
  • Willingness to work overtime or weekends as workload demands
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, balance, reach, and twist
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Manage outbound wholesale PO shipments for key strategic customers
  • Utilize customer TMS systems to schedule freight, assign carriers, and confirm pickup appointments
  • Create and maintain packing lists, trailer breakdowns, and SAR (shipment authorization/request) documentation used by warehouse teams to build pallets and stage freight
  • Ensure shipment documentation aligns with customer routing guides, PO requirements, and service expectations
  • Act as the primary logistics liaison between customers, 3PL partners, and internal warehouse teams
  • Oversee day-to-day transportation execution through 3PL partners for domestic and international freight. Coordinate with international forwarders and brokers for shipment execution and documentation
  • Manage inbound and outbound shipments across LTL, TL, parcel (non-customer), and international air/ocean modes
  • Ensure transportation activities align with defined Incoterms and company policies
  • Serve as escalation point for transportation service failures, delays, and claims
  • Monitor and manage transportation costs and freight spend against budget expectations
  • Review, validate, and approve freight invoices in coordination with Accounts Payable
  • Track and report KPIs including OTIF, cost per shipment, transit time, claims, and damage rates
  • Identify and implement cost reduction and service improvement initiatives
  • Act as a hands-on user and functional owner of transportation systems and customer portals
  • Support future ERP (Microsoft Dynamics) integration as implemented
  • Assist in developing, maintaining, and implementing Logistics COE SOPs
  • Create and deploy best practices to improve transportation efficiency, accuracy, and service levels
  • Train, coach, and develop logistics staff; conduct performance reviews and disciplinary actions
  • Collaborate with Warehouse Management to ensure accurate execution of shipment plans
  • Support cross-functional problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Attend meetings requiring Transportation or Logistics input
  • Meet with external partners and service providers as required
  • Conduct business in compliance with the corporation’s Code of Business Conduct
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws
