About The Position

This position is for the Focus Factory Outfitting Site in Mobile, AL. Logistics Analyst - Alabama The Strategic Sourcing Program is hiring a Logistics Analyst to support Columbia deck outfitting efforts in Mobile, Alabama. The outfitting will be conducted in a Focus Factory environment and include post paint installation of Piping, Electrical, Structural, Sheetmetal, Mechanical and more. The Focus Factory environment consists of supplier personnel being utilized as embedded EB contractors, provided contractor badges, necessary trade training and access to portions of the business system. The Focus Factory “builds to EB paper” and requires strict adherence to the EB policies, procedures, processes and work packages. The selected candidate will be responsible for interacting with all levels of supplier and EB management. The candidate selected must be highly motivated with strong interpersonal skills. The candidate must be task oriented, able to prioritize workload and be responsible for knowledge transfer. In addition, the individual must have effective problem solving and critical thinking skills and must be able to cultivate and promote a positive TEAM environment. The successful candidate must be a decision maker, able to work with minimal direction, and make timely and accurate decisions. The Logistics Analyst is expected to support the department’s strategic vision, management of priorities and resolve customer questions and problems. The Logistics Analyst is part of a team that is responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy, weld wire control, calibrated tooling, specific trade tooling and trade material. Logistics Analysts must be well versed in operations management and will work in the tool room / wire room. Material control and management will be part of the job duties. The Logistics Analyst will aid in evaluating current processes and take action to support process improvement initiatives to support the Austal Focus Factory team. The successful candidate will be expected to have knowledge of and maintain full compliance with the attributes of Safety, Quality, Cost, Schedule and Continuous Improvements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must have 1+ years of related experience in any of the following: tool crib, wire room, planning, warehouse or operations
  • Must be available to work all shifts
  • Must be able to travel, as required. This position will require business and EWA travel as necessary to support the Program efforts at other vendor locations

Nice To Haves

  • Past experience working in an EB and/or Naval Shipyard environment

Responsibilities

  • Must possess an energetic and positive attitude and be willing to change and develop as the requirements of assigned tasks dictate
  • Able to receive raw Materials and Products. Responsible for validation of material types, markings, segregation and quantities utilizing receiving reports, material move tags, packing slips, packing lists and shipping documents
  • Supports outfitting operations; specifically the issuance and control of weld wire, tooling, consumables, and trade material
  • Able to issue Material/Product to supervision or management. Must be able to locate material according to location, nomenclature, size, shape, weight or stock number
  • Keen understanding of logistics management, data management, project reporting, material availability analysis, and metrics reporting
  • Track material transfers and in transit within EB depts, expediting as necessary to support the required need date
  • Weld wire management, issue/return and scrap process. Utilize ATICTS and AWPSS for proper weld wire issue and return. Additional training will be provided to ensure full compliance of EB processes and procedures
  • Must be able to operate basic hand tools. IE banding tools, shears, etc.
  • Computer skills required.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Production, Planning, Material Warehouses, Shipping/Receiving organizations
  • Must have strong commitment toward safety and must be able to handle/lift heavy items within safety guidelines
  • Applicant will be required to work in a collaborative and team environment and meet organizational goals
  • Position will be permanently located in Alabama supporting Focus Factory (work to EB paper) programs at EB supplier facilities
  • Ensure EB team promotes and adheres to the importance of a strong security posture with embedded supplier personnel. Must diligently manage any sensitive/controlled data
  • Gain the trust and collaboration of the supplier management and embedded personnel
  • Employee may be required to work other than normal hours, to include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Shift work and emergence overtime may be required
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with subordinates, supervisors, suppliers and EB leadership
