About The Position

The Logistics Manager is responsible for supply chain activities including, but not limited to, staff allocation, prioritization, value-added projects, the daily shipping and receiving throughput, and day-to-day warehouse operations tasks. The Logistics Manager partners with Customer Service, Operations, Purchasing, and Quality, to set priorities as well as develop and implement continuous improvement strategies to operational flows and processes for a growing organization. Ensures shipments are delivered in a timely manner. Maintains relationships with carrier vendors and consistently resolves customer issues. The Logistics Manager is expected to: · Maintain delivery standards and achieve 95% on time shipment · Maintain warehouse cleanliness and organization using 5s methodology · Negotiate freight to reduce shipping costs while maintaining quality standards

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required. Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred.
  • 7-10 years of experience in warehousing, receiving, inventory control or materials management in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience is required. (Union and Non-Union)
  • Experience using ERP systems (IFS a plus).
  • Forklift operating experience is strongly preferred
  • ERP software – IFS a plus (to include Inventory, Procurement, Quality, and Manufacturing modules)

Responsibilities

  • Supervise logistics, warehouse, and transportation (domestic and international)
  • Select carriers and negotiate contracts and rates
  • Manage all inbound and outbound shipments and related activities including movement of pallets, stacking boxes, and processing all orders and warehouse transfer transactions
  • Audit operations to ensure service standards are being met
  • Monitor space utilization/layouts to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations
  • Monitor and ensure departmental/facility key performance indicators (KPI) are met in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Evaluates shipping/receiving/warehouse operational processes and procedures, and develops strategies and implementation plans to improve efficiency and product flow. Maintains efforts to drive continuous improvements – driving high internal customer satisfaction
  • Develops warehouse layout and implements flow strategies optimizing product flow, organization, and space
  • Ensure the accurate and timely preparation of all necessary reports and records regarding facility operations
  • Visually compares incoming shipments with packing slips to verify accuracy; identifies and record discrepancies, damages, and defects on BOL/packing slip (if necessary) prior to driver departing premise.
  • Direct movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areas.
  • Support the control and accuracy of inventory, partnering with Planning/Inventory Control in the execution of cycle counts
  • Research significant inventory adjustments and communicate findings with Management team
  • Responsible for the selection, coordination and scheduling with outside shipping companies in regards to picking up finished goods for delivery to vendors and/ or jobsites.
  • Responsible for the daily scheduling of warehouse personnel. Maintains a productive labor climate in the warehouse and applies a progressive disciplinary process when needed.
  • Responsible for maintenance of warehouse equipment. Ensures that the warehouse personnel have safe and efficient equipment in order to perform the distribution functions. Ensures a clean and safe worksite.
  • Evaluate budgets and expenditures as it relates to logistics and warehousing
  • Responsible for warehouse safety programs in order to provide a safe and clean workplace for employees and within the regulations of all OSHA local and state regulations
  • Provide regular and timely feedback to employees, acknowledging success and the need for improvement.
