As a Log Handling Operator, you’ll play a critical role in the sawmill production process. Your day will include: Operating the merchandiser safely and efficiently. Keeping the sharp chain infeed deck full to maintain production flow. Performing routine maintenance such as lubrication, saw changes, and guide adjustments. Calibrating saw modules and monitoring equipment for operational issues. Completing daily clean-up in your work area. Following lockout procedures and adhering to all safety standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to lift at least 40 pounds and work from elevated positions using safety gear.
  • Ability to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and pulling for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work any shift, including weekends, holidays, or overtime.
  • Strong commitment to safety and excellent attendance record.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic computer skills.
  • Experience in lumber or wood products industry and/or manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Operate log merchandiser equipment safely and productively.
  • Understand operational functions of all equipment in the area.
  • Perform routine maintenance and calibrations as needed.
  • Identify and communicate operational problems clearly for correction.
  • Calculate numbers for manual sets and log lengths.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Comply with all safety policies and procedures.
