About The Position

We are looking for an Underground Locomotive Mechanic to join Resolution UG Operations & Maintenance team to support the safe and reliable operation of underground rail and locomotive systems. This hands‑on role is critical to maintaining diesel and battery locomotives, rolling stock, rail infrastructure, and associated systems that support underground production and development activities. This role is a great opportunity to become part of The Resolution Copper Company that is located in the historical Pioneer Mining District, 60 miles east of Phoenix, Arizona. Reporting to the UG Mechanical Supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Journeyman‑level mechanical trade qualification
  • Proven experience maintaining locomotives, rail equipment, or heavy mobile mining equipment
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems including engines, drivetrains, braking systems, and hydraulics
  • Ability to work safely in confined, underground environments while wearing required PPE
  • Strong fault-finding, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Commitment to safety, teamwork, and operational excellence
  • Current valid driver’s license
  • Be a team player who contributes and works with others to accomplish quality results

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of underground diesel and battery locomotives, rail cars, and associated systems
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and braking system faults and complete corrective repairs
  • Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs to ensure equipment reliability and compliance
  • Follow approved Safe Work Procedures (SWPs), conduct Take 5 / pre‑task risk assessments, and verify critical controls prior to work
  • Respond to locomotive breakdowns and unplanned maintenance events underground
  • Maintain rail equipment in compliance with site standards, MSHA requirements, and manufacturer specifications
  • Accurately complete maintenance documentation, defect reports, and work management records
  • Collaborate with operations and other trades to support safe, coordinated underground activities
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, housekeeping audits, and safety observations
