About The Position

Road & Rail Services is hiring a Locomotive Mechanic to perform inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on diesel locomotives and rail equipment. This is a hands-on role working outdoors in a safety-focused, federally regulated environment.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of mechanical experience, OR
• Experience repairing rail equipment or heavy machinery, OR
• Completion of a mechanical or technical trade program, OR
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
• Ability to read and follow technical instructions
• Ability to meet all pre-employment and ongoing safety requirements
• Lift and carry up to 50–60 lbs occasionally
• Climb ladders and work at heights up to 16+ feet
• Perform repetitive bending, squatting, and twisting
• Work in confined or awkward positions when needed

Responsibilities

• Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair locomotive mechanical, electrical, and air systems
• Perform preventive maintenance and component replacements
• Work on systems including diesel engines, generators, motors, air brakes, compressors, wiring, and lighting
• Read and interpret schematics, manuals, and service bulletins
• Complete required documentation in compliance with company and FRA regulations
• Use diagnostic tools and testing equipment to ensure proper operation
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
