As a Locksmith, you will install, repair, and maintain door hardware, lock systems, and automatic doors to ensure facility security and compliance. Responsibilities include key control, inventory management, documentation, and collaborating with teams on maintenance and construction projects. POSITION SUMMARY This position is responsible for conducting preventative and corrective work to the facility. Locksmith activities including but are not limited to hardware installation and replacement, lock keying, key control, automatic entrances and doors and rated door systems. Works with and assists other trades in completing required tasks.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge
  • The position requires two or more years of diversified work experience with locksmithing
  • Must have working knowledge of locksmithing, rated and non-rated door assemblies, door hardware and components common to the healthcare environment.
  • Must be able to exercise independent decision making and judgment in the performance of all duties.
  • Requires the ability to work safely and effectively with locksmith equipment.
  • Must be proficient in reading and understanding related and required maintenance and construction documents.
  • Requires working knowledge and certification as required of applicable regulatory codes and local building codes.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Must be able to work effectively with common office software programs.

Nice To Haves

  • 3-5 years of previous healthcare Facilities operations experience is preferred.
  • advanced skills of locksmithing and related fields as demonstrated by a Certification from Associated Locksmiths of America as a Certified Master Locksmith.
  • Additional related education and/or experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Installs and services door hardware and lock systems and components.
  • Coordinates lock systems, including hardware installation and replacement, lock keying, key control, automatic entrances, automatic doors and rated door systems in order to ensure the integrity and reliability of the locksmith activities.
  • Participates with other divisions and departments to meet the facility locksmith, maintenance, installation and construction needs; negotiates priorities, plans work schedules and job assignments.
  • Monitors locksmith maintenance repair work, alterations and renovation upgrades to the facility.
  • Instructs personnel regarding locksmith elements to ensure the safe operation and use.
  • Monitors locksmith components, materials and supplies at an appropriate level within budgetary constraints.
  • Maintains records for facility key control and compliance with all applicable Authorities Having Jurisdiction including local, state, federal and all other regulatory codes pertaining to any and all components of the facility locksmith systems.
  • Works independently under general supervision.
