About The Position

The Locksmith plays a critical role in maintaining the security and functionality of lock systems throughout the location. This position requires advanced technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while adhering to company policies and safety standards. This is a year-round, full-time position based out of the Old Faithful area within Yellowstone National Park. The Engineering and Maintenance department is responsible for troubleshooting, preserving the park's rich history, and stewarding its iconic lodges, requiring hands-on skills to ensure tasks are completed correctly.

Requirements

  • Advanced locksmith skills and troubleshooting expertise.
  • Ability to mentor and train less experienced staff; willingness to learn and adapt.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Maximo CMMS.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with innovation and persistence.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and NFPA safety regulations; ability to identify and correct unsafe practices.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in changing work environments.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and comply with respiratory protection regulations.
  • Walk up to 0.5 miles over uneven terrain; climb stairs and ladders; work in varied weather conditions at elevations above 6,000 ft.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Perform heavy labor outdoors.
  • Must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain lock systems, including mechanical and electronic components.
  • Manage key assignments and distribution, ensuring accurate tracking and auditing.
  • Perform and document corrective and preventive maintenance using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Utilize appropriate tools and materials to complete work orders safely and efficiently.
  • Foster a safe, clean, and cooperative work environment.
  • Communicate effectively with professionalism in both verbal and written formats.
  • Work independently with sensitive/confidential information; occasional overtime or night shifts may be required.
  • Enforce and comply with Xanterra’s Yellowstone Key Policy and sustainability initiatives.
  • Adhere to all safety programs and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
