THE ROLE The Locksmith | Security Support Technician supports the protection and safeguarding of Huntington Place’s assets, employees, guests, and partners. This role is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of locking systems throughout the facility and supports access control, inspections, and security operations. This is a hands-on technical role requiring discretion, precision, and a strong service mindset in a large, high-traffic public venue.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience as a locksmith in a retail, service, or institutional environment.
  • Strong knowledge of safety and security principles.
  • Proficiency with locksmith hand and power tools.
  • Working knowledge of mortise, rim, cylindrical, padlock, cam lock, and exit device systems.
  • Ability to cut keys by code and duplication.
  • Ability to calculate and pin functional SFIC cores.
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written).
  • Good math, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals.
  • Customer-focused, collaborative, and team-oriented.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical training or experience in safety, law enforcement, or security preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain locks and locking hardware throughout the facility.
  • Create, duplicate, and issue keys in accordance with access control protocols.
  • Create and install lock cylinders and cores, including Small Format Interchangeable Cores (SFIC).
  • Process and execute access requests for limited-access and secured areas.
  • Maintain accurate records of keys, cores, access levels, and lock changes.
  • Conduct inspections of portable fire extinguishers and replace as necessary.
  • Perform monthly inspections of first aid cabinets and AED units.
  • Document inspections and ensure follow-up actions are completed.
  • Create and issue identification badges and access cards for employees, contractors, and authorized users.
  • Update access permissions as directed.
  • Safely operate hand and power tools.
  • Support security operations and complete additional duties as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned, including special projects.
