About The Position

The part-time Locksmith position at SSC involves providing locksmith services, including the repair, alteration, installation, and keying of mechanical and electronic lock systems across the facility or campus. Requirements

• 5 years of previous locksmith experience preferred but not required.
• Valid Locksmith license may be required depending on state regulations.
• 2 years of trade school or on-the-job related experience.
• 3 years experience as a Locksmith or technician in a similar-sized institution.
• Ability to lift medium and/or heavy equipment and tools.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with electronic lock systems.
• Knowledge of security protocols and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Reads blueprints and diagrams to determine materials needed and estimates time and material costs for installations.
• Installs, repairs, and maintains keys and locks.
• Inserts new or repaired tumblers into locks to change combinations.
• Moves lock pick in cylinder to open door locks without keys.
• Installs locks and lock systems using various hardware and carpentry methods.
• Maintains records and inventory for locks, keys, spare parts, tools, and equipment.
• Uses key cutting machine to cut new or duplicate keys.
• Troubleshoots and repairs electronic lock systems.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
