Performs advanced technical work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of locks, exit devices, and closed-circuit TV (CCTV), electronic security hardware, and systems of City of Orlando buildings. Performs technical work in the maintenance and repair of access control systems replacing when necessary. Develops and maintains master key system. Maintains computerized inventory key records. Analyzes situations/problems and recommends solutions. Researches alternate hardware and locking devices. Maintains inventory and orders parts. Repairs and opens defective locks. Changes lock combinations. Replaces worn/broken parts. Opens locks as required when keys have been lost or broken and performs required repairs. Repairs security locks including minor electrical and mechanical locking controls. Makes and issues new or duplicate keys using key cutting machine as directed by the City key management policy and procedure # 910.2. Maintains key cutting machine, grinder, and related hand tools. Works with carpenters to prepare new doors for lock installation, as well as to adjust doors, closures, and/or striker plates to ensure proper lock alignment. Performs other related duties as assigned. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Facilities Project Manager. Work is reviewed for completion through reports submitted.
