About The Position

Would you like to work with an agency that is dedicated to preserving the 14 historical Kentucky River Locks and Dams built in the 1800’s? Do you enjoy working outdoors? The Kentucky River Authority is currently seeking individuals to work as a Lockmaster. The Lockmaster is responsible for locking recreational boaters through the locks from Frankfort, Kentucky to Carrollton, Kentucky. The Kentucky River Locks and Dams 1 - 4 are operational from Memorial Day weekend through the end of October each year. This is a Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday work schedule. Once the locks close for the season, the work schedule reverts back to a Monday through Thursday work week schedule, from November through April. In the non-locking months, the lockmaster will perform maintenance on equipment, buildings, and grounds.
