About The Position

The NFL Films Field Acquisition Department is seeking a skilled and experienced Location Sound Associate to join our dynamic production team. This role is responsible for capturing high-quality audio on location at a variety of events, including pre-season projects, regular season games, and special events throughout the year. The ideal candidate brings technical audio expertise, a passion for storytelling, and a deep appreciation for the world of sports to help deliver compelling and immersive audio-visual content.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in film production, Communications, or related field.
  • 7-10 years of on-site experience in Commercial Production Audio, Live Event Audio mixing, or Theater backline management/rental work.
  • Specific Wireless Microphone experience with the Zaxcom RF and Recording system.
  • Proficiency with the Sound Devices 4, 6, 8 and Scorpio Series Recorders.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced, team-driven production environment.
  • Travel Real ID is required. This is a travel-based position.

Nice To Haves

  • Dante Certification is a plus.
  • Proficiency in using Airtable, FileMaker Pro, and the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of the latest Arri Alexa 35 camera equipment and terminology is a valued plus.
  • A passion for sports and storytelling through sound and visuals.
  • Familiarity with NFL Films' content is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a variety of sound recording equipment to capture clean, high-quality audio in live, fast-paced production environments.
  • Perform sideline boom pole audio work during NFL games, ensuring real-time, immersive sound capture.
  • Mic up players and coaches during NFL games, balancing discretion with optimal audio clarity.
  • Collaborate closely with producers, cinematographers, and directors to fulfill creative audio goals and elevate overall production value.
  • Lead audio crews for long-format productions, overseeing equipment distribution, maintenance, and readiness to ensure seamless operation.
  • Contribute to the creation and implementation of a streamlined, efficient equipment inventory and tracking system.
  • Quickly identify and resolve audio issues on set to uphold consistent, professional sound quality.
  • Support the organization, formatting, and delivery of audio files to post-production teams in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintain detailed logs of equipment usage and document any technical issues encountered during shoots.
