We are looking for a highly organized Localization Program Manager with a strong background in vendor management to lead and optimize our network of localization partners. In this role, you will own the relationships, contracts, and performance of external localization vendors, ensuring high-quality translations, efficient workflows, and cost-effective solutions. You will work closely with product, engineering, and content teams to align vendor output with business and product goals. Roles is based in San Mateo, CA and will report to Sr. Manager, Localization.

  • Manage the full lifecycle of vendor relationships, including sourcing, onboarding, contracting, and performance evaluation.
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard translation agencies, linguists, and other localization partners or linguistic resources to support global content needs.
  • Define and monitor quality KPIs (e.g., error rates, linguistic QA pass rates), conduct regular quality reviews, and lead corrective action plans when needed.
  • Ensure vendor availability aligns with projects volume and is able to scale up and down based on needs for all languages and time zones.
  • Partner with internal teams to improve efficiency in handoffs, file formats, CAT tools, and automation to achieve standardization across all projects and initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate vendor records, rate cards, glossaries, style guides, and onboarding documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, in-market stakeholders, and vendor teams to ensure terminology consistency, tone of voice, and contextual accuracy.
  • Implement and manage localization tools, workflows, and translation management systems (TMS) to streamline operations.
  • Evaluate, implement, and optimize Machine Translation (MT) and/or AI Translation for appropriate content types and languages.
  • Design scalable vendor workflows that support continuous localization in Agile environments across time zones.
  • Oversee localization workflows, tools, and technology to maximize efficiency and scalability.
  • Lead quarterly vendor reviews and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as the main point of contact between vendors and internal teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Localization, International Studies, Business, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in localization program or vendor management, ideally in the tech industry.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple vendors, languages, and projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with localization workflows, CAT tools, and translation management systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work across cultures and time zones.
  • Fluency in English and one more language.
  • Experience with i18n and engineering collaboration.
