About The Position

The Transport Driver is responsible for the safe operation of transport vehicles according to ICC and DOT regulations. This individual is responsible for intercompany transfers of product among the assigned facilities. The role involves fully understanding how to operate and safely drive company-maintained vehicles, working effectively in a team-oriented environment, ensuring trailers and contents are properly secured, maintaining a safe and DOT compliant vehicle, and notifying the Plant Manager of any major maintenance or delivery issues. The driver must ensure timely and appropriate transfers, assist with loading and unloading, obey all traffic laws, verify loads, and perform daily equipment inspections.

Requirements

  • Must be able to pass a DOT physical.
  • A safe and clean driving record with no moving violations.
  • Able to understand and follow DOT regulations for safety and hours of service.
  • Ability to be energetic and focused while working in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
  • Must be able to read and interpret work orders and thoroughly complete paperwork/documents.
  • Limited overnight stays

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred or other equivalent and relevant demonstrated skills and experience.
  • Experience driving a company vehicle for transport purposes is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Fully understand how to operate and safely drive company-maintained vehicles in alignment with Interstate Commerce Commission and Department of Transportation regulations.
  • Able to work in a team-oriented work environment and communicate effectively with individuals in multiple locations as needed.
  • Ensure trailers and other contents of transfer are properly secured to prevent damage.
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and DOT complaint vehicle.
  • Notify Plant Manager of any major maintenance or delivery issues encountered.
  • Ensure transfers are delivered timely and appropriately including assisting with loading and unloading materials and trailers.
  • Obey all traffic laws and drive according to the weather and road conditions.
  • Verify loads transported match the packing list and/or bill of lading and document pickups and deliveries as needed.
  • Perform daily inspections on equipment prior to driving and following each trip to ensure safety and operational effectiveness of equipment.
  • Assist in other areas and perform other duties, as needed.
