About The Position

This position is a 13-week contract for a Registered Professional Nurse who will perform an age-specific plan of care for a designated group of patients using the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. The nurse will collaborate with physicians and other health team members in coordinating and implementing procedures and treatments, utilizing leadership skills and clinical judgment in directing and delegating activities of the patient care unit team.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of professional nursing experience in the related specialty.
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State and/or Connecticut required.
  • BLS, ACLS, Advanced NRP, NCC-EFM, and AWHONN Intermediate certifications required.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses the patient’s physiologic health status including conducting patient interviews and reviewing patient charts.
  • Assesses patient’s psychosocial health status and communicates psychological status and care plan.
  • Identifies patient outcomes and develops criteria for measurement.
  • Formulates the plan of care and establishes priorities necessary to achieve expected outcomes.
  • Implements the plan of care while maintaining constant vigilance over patient care.
  • Evaluates care provided for patient outcomes and performs variance analysis.
  • Collaborates with other care team members in planning and carrying out treatment regimens.
  • Performs grade I-IV Decubitus Care and preventive skin care measures.
  • Administers medications correctly and safely, educating patients on drug interactions.
  • Participates in patient and family education, providing explanations of conditions and discharge planning.
  • Performs related duties as required.
