About The Position

The position involves safely operating a tractor/trailer for the transportation of freight while adhering to Company, Federal, State, and Local laws, as well as FMCSA regulations. The driver is responsible for conducting inspections, maintaining records, and ensuring the security of equipment and cargo. The role requires versatility in driving across various terrains and environmental conditions, and may involve dock work and customer service duties.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent experience.
• 21 years of age or older as per FMCSA regulations.
• Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License.
• Registered with the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse.
• Reside within 75 miles of the domiciled terminal.
• Minimum of 1 year driving experience required.
• Ability to operate a forklift (minimum 7,500 lb. vehicle).
• Must be able to lift approximately 70 lbs. or more as required.
• Familiarity with state motor vehicle laws and FMCSA regulations.
• Pass a FMCSA required medical exam and road test.
• Ability to read and speak English as per FMCSA requirements.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a tractor/trailer in accordance with laws and regulations.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle.
• Maintain compliance with FMCSA requirements and local regulations.
• Ensure the security of equipment and cargo during transport.
• Report maintenance issues to Fleet Services and/or supervision.
• Verify unit numbers against paperwork and report discrepancies.
• Provide professional service to customers and the general public.
• Assist with loading/unloading freight as needed based on business requirements.
