About The Position

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is seeking temporary local hires to assist with disaster response and recovery efforts in Houston, TX. Local hires are typically residents who support their community during recovery processes. The term of employment is 120 days, with the possibility of extensions based on disaster needs. The role involves supporting recovery activities for FEMA staff and emergency management partners, contributing to the development of recovery policies, and performing various administrative duties.

Requirements

• Experience coordinating with internal and external customers to achieve project objectives.
• Experience providing guidance on organizational policies and compliance with rules and regulations.
• Experience collecting and analyzing data to identify challenges and recommend program improvements.

Responsibilities

• Support recovery activities for FEMA headquarters and regional offices.
• Coordinate and support the implementation of disaster recovery services and programs.
• Analyze resource requirements and capabilities for program delivery.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of emergency management recovery policies, plans, and procedures.
• Interpret laws, regulations, and policies applicable to FEMA.
• Conduct analysis of survivor-centric assistance issues affecting program delivery.
• Perform administrative duties including data processing and tracking Requests for Public Assistance (RPAs).
• Assist with the Public Assistance spend plan tracker and generate ad hoc reports.
