About The Position

We are currently seeking a professional local Driver to join our team at Waste Connections in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. As a Driver, you will be responsible for safely operating a heavy-duty truck and transporting containers to residential customers. This is a physically demanding role that requires excellent driving skills and a strong commitment to safety. This role also has the opportunity to earn your CDL. Pay: $20 per hour Hours: Monday - Friday with occasional Saturdays. Start time is 5 am.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Driver or in a similar role
  • Ability to operate a heavy-duty truck and handle various waste materials
  • Strong knowledge of local traffic laws and regulations
  • Excellent driving skills and the ability to maneuver large vehicles in tight spaces
  • Physical stamina to handle the demands of the job, including lifting and moving heavy waste containers
  • Strong commitment to safety and the ability to follow established safety procedures
  • Good communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with customers and coworkers

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a heavy-duty truck to transport waste materials to designated disposal sites
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure its safe operation
  • Secure waste containers properly on the truck to prevent spills or accidents during transportation
  • Follow designated routes and schedules to ensure timely delivery and pick-up of waste reciprocals
  • Communicate with dispatchers and customers to coordinate pick-up and delivery schedules
  • Provide excellent customer service by addressing customer inquiries and concerns in a professional manner
  • Adhere to all local traffic laws and regulations to ensure the safety of yourself, other drivers, and pedestrians
  • Follow established safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary
  • Maintain accurate records of daily activities, including mileage, fuel consumption, and any incidents or accidents
  • Report any mechanical issues or vehicle malfunctions to the appropriate personnel for repairs
