About The Position

The Local Driver – Trainer will supervise work activities for all relief driver positions. Coordinate, plan and conduct Relief Driver training and evaluation programs. He/She will coordinate with the Transportation Manager for the movement of all trucks and services required. He/She will coordinate with local repair agencies, work with dispatch, and warehouse for all local requirements. This position reports to the Transportation Manager.

Requirements

  • Ability to speak in front of groups and conduct presentations at all levels.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain discretion with confidential information.
  • Valid Class A driver's license with clean driving record.
  • Proven safe driving record.
  • Minimum 5-10 years driving experience.
  • Excellent customer relations experience required for internal and external customers.
  • Strong background in training required.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise a group of employees in a positive manner, be part of a team environment and have a commitment to quality processes.
  • Results oriented and passionate about the company's business and product line-up.
  • Personal integrity, honesty and leadership by example.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of computer programs such as Excel, Word and Power Point preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Train and assist new drivers in all expectations for a safe professional driver.
  • Train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel; schedule and assign work; recommend disciplinary actions and recommend removal of applicants from the training program, as appropriate.
  • Coordinate, plan and implement training programs; conduct safe driving check weekly and provide training for areas of deficiencies.
  • Be a positive voice of the Company's Vision and Mission and adhere to all procedures in support of them.
  • Promote the Department's vision of Safety, Service and Efficiency.
  • Supervise the shuttling of all equipment to and from various agencies, company locations, and any other assigned locations.
  • Provide constant updates to the Department Director of all reoccurring maintenance issues.
  • At times, work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Communicate and Work as a Team Member.
  • Participate in some discussions about confidential/sensitive matters and understand these stay between those in the discussion.
  • Communicate with employees and customers through written, oral and face-to-face interactions.
  • Assist other team members in completion of work.
  • Communicate with fellow employees to complete tasks and adhere to safety standards.
  • Occasionally fill in on over the road trips when required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
