About The Position
CIEE is seeking Local Coordinators in your community to aid in supporting international students during their academic exchange year or semester. This role is primarily remote, with the requirement to meet in person with supervising students bi-monthly. Living in the posted location of Utica, NY is a requirement of the role. As a Local Coordinator, you will help coordinate school and host family placements for international high school students in your local community. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about bringing the world closer together, increasing inter-cultural awareness, and finding safe and welcoming homes in their community for international exchange students. The Local Coordinator plays a crucial role in the exchange program, welcoming international students and providing them with the opportunity to experience American culture, academics, and daily life. This creates appreciation for the United States and pathways for cultural exchange. The Local Coordinator will work closely with regional staff to coordinate supervision and support for students and families throughout the duration of the exchange program. Successful candidates will possess strong social skills, creativity, patience, and the ability to work with diverse populations. An understanding of cultural differences and a desire to work with international youth are also beneficial. CIEE provides comprehensive training for Local Coordinators, covering all aspects of the position, including placements, supervision, conflict mediation, and intercultural training. The training structure includes four weeks of training, with only one hour of classroom training per week, allowing for flexibility in completing tasks. This part-time role is ideal for individuals looking for extra income while supporting international education, as it is not salaried and compensation is based on task completion, including placement and supervision fees, bonuses, and travel incentives.
