About The Position

Summary: The Local Construction Coordinator plays a crucial role in supporting our purpose of creating lasting value for those we serve by facilitating the needs of the customer’s job site in the Eastern Iowa market. This includes, but is not limited to ordering material, receiving material at jobsite, providing material coordination and agile construction practices to the jobsite. This individual is an important liaison between Van Meter sales, operations, and targeted contractors in the field. This person exemplifies all safe work practices. This individual promotes our culture, our 5 P’s and our purpose to create lasting value for those we serve.

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Previous customer service experience required
  • Ability to lift 70 lbs. on a consistent basis
  • Ability to operate lift truck equipment
  • Ability to work an extended shift to complete work tasks as needed
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
  • Willingness to obtain a Class A or Class B CDL if deemed necessary
  • Ability to meet and maintain qualifications as required by the DOT
  • Demonstrated computer skills
  • Forklift operating experience required
  • Minimum 2 year commitment required

Nice To Haves

  • Previous distribution center experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Eclipse preferred
  • Knowledge of handheld RF scanner is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all company safety policies and initiatives
  • Complete returns for parts from the jobsite
  • Maintain jobsite inventory
  • Complete parts requests through ordering, receiving and shipping
  • Conduct product inspection, and storage at the jobsite
  • Flexible and adaptable to change priorities on short notice
  • Work closely with Inside Sales and Purchasing
  • Provide customer service and support as main contact between Van Meter and specific jobsite personnel
  • Build relationships with site personnel
  • Set up and relocate fabrication stations/areas
  • Clean, stock and remove excess material from work areas
  • Deliver parts to needed areas of jobsite
  • Receive and distribute deliveries as needed
  • Keep work areas clean and orderly
  • Deliver, unload, and stage materials on jobsite as needed
  • Extended out of state travel to customer job sites
