About The Position

The Loan Syndication Operations Team Leader at Valley National Bank is responsible for managing a loan syndication servicing team, ensuring accurate recordkeeping and execution of syndicated loans. This role involves monitoring borrowing statuses, preparing new borrowings, and coordinating with various stakeholders including borrowers and bank representatives. The Team Leader will also oversee the administration of loan transactions and ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience with loan syndications and participations.
• Ability to interpret credit agreements and related documentation to set up new deals for servicing.
• Experienced in a variety of loan servicing activities including loan funding, borrowings, and paydowns.
• Extensive loan operational systems experience.
• Ability to troubleshoot basic loan-related functional problems/issues.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent mathematical skills and attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

• Previous use of a loan syndications system preferred but not required.
• Basic PC skills including a general understanding of databases; highly experienced with Excel.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the accuracy and completeness of the set-up of all new deals on the bank's syndications and accounting systems.
• Manage the processing of new drawdowns, paydowns, and letter-of-credit activities for syndicated loan transactions.
• Oversee the calculations, invoicing, and disbursement of ongoing interest and fee payments from a Borrower and/or Lender perspective.
• Manage and ensure all monies due and payable to the bank are collected and/or reconciled.
• Act as the liaison to the borrowers and participant bank representatives for all syndicated loans and loan participations sold.
• Provide sophisticated reporting and analysis on all aspects of the deals through coordination with third-party vendors.
• Coordinate with internal and external resources in performing day-to-day operations of customer swap servicing.
• Administer Valley's Dealer Floorplan portfolio through the Datascan platform when required.
• Create, develop, and implement new policies and procedures for the Loan Syndications Operations Team.
• Adhere to all internal policies and controls, ensuring external regulatory compliance.
