Our Customer is seeking a highly qualified Loan Specialist to support the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Disaster Loan Servicing operations. This position will support disaster loan activities managed through the SBA Santa Ana Servicing Center, while the selected candidate will be stationed in the Birmingham, Alabama office. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and experienced in complex loan servicing and borrower support. This role is critical to ensuring SBA disaster loan borrowers receive timely, accurate servicing assistance while protecting the financial interests of the Agency. Perform a variety of disaster loan servicing functions, including processing, servicing, liquidation, and complex borrower assistance activities. Spend the majority of time (not less than 60%) working on loans considered “complex” or problematic due to delinquency, special servicing conditions, or sensitive financial circumstances. Review assigned loan files to understand collateral, repayment terms, servicing requirements, and disaster loan eligibility constraints. Analyze borrower and lender requests related to loan servicing actions, deferments, liquidation options, or other servicing needs. Provide advanced servicing support for delinquent or potentially delinquent disaster loans, identifying root causes and developing viable solutions aligned with SBA policies. Conduct borrower and lender interviews to counsel stakeholders on SBA requirements, servicing practices, and available assistance pathways. Deliver excellent customer service through inbound and outbound borrower communications, ensuring professionalism and clarity. Prepare financial documentation, correspondence, and servicing records with accuracy and attention to detail. Perform additional loan processing, liquidation, or servicing duties as assigned in support of SBA Disaster Loan mission requirements.
