The Loan Processor at Vanderbilt Mortgage is responsible for collecting, evaluating, and prioritizing documentation necessary for loan approval, adhering to Federal and State regulatory guidelines. This role involves administrative tasks related to loan processing, ensuring compliance, and maintaining communication with applicants and retail partners. The position requires strong organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to manage a pipeline of loan applications effectively.

  • Determine proper documentation required based on income/employment types and loan types to verify income, employment, and other financial stipulations.
  • Gather, monitor for accuracy, and sort documents alongside retail partners and applicants.
  • Calculate and verify income amounts to ensure provided information is accurate.
  • Review legal documents to verify ownership of real estate.
  • Process final review of loan applications and communicate completion to the closing department.
  • Utilize company resources to maintain knowledge of loan operations policies and procedures as well as state and federal regulations.
  • Manage rapid changes in application volumes based on market demands, typically handling a pipeline of 50 applications.
  • Conduct research and make knowledgeable decisions regarding mortgage loan processing issues.
  • Document detailed notes of customer interactions in the loan originations system (LOS).
  • Provide process education and expectations to customers and retail home centers through various communication methods.
  • Maintain department telephone availability and respond to voicemails within 24 hours.
  • Work closely with loan officers and retail partners to align on loan application statuses.
  • Attend training sessions and meetings for process improvements and team building.
  • Provide peer-to-peer coaching and develop strong working relationships with all departments.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required, college preferred.
  • 0-2 years related experience preferred.
  • Strong computer skills with ability to navigate Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to conduct research, multitask, and quickly adjust prioritization of loan files.
  • Great attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform under pressure while maintaining accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in loan processing or related field.
  • Familiarity with Federal and State loan regulations.
