About The Position

Border Bank is seeking a Loan Operations Lead to join our Loan Operations team. This position may be based at any Border Bank location. The Loan Operations Lead plays a key role in supporting commercial, agriculture, and consumer lending operations. This position serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) across multiple systems and processes, leads internal projects, and provides essential backup support to the Loan Operations Manager. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, tech‑savvy, and energized by improving workflows and supporting teams across the bank.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or completion of equivalent specialized training.
  • 5+ years of experience of similar or related experience.

  • Prefer experience in loan accounting, business analytics, and project management.

Responsibilities

  • Provide operational support for commercial and consumer lending, ensuring efficient workflows and well‑documented procedures.
  • Identify, recommend, and lead implementation of workflow improvements.
  • Serve as SME for core banking systems and lending platforms, including Synergy, nCino/Expere, Cognos, Simplifile, Lien Solutions, and others.
  • Train new and existing Consumer Loan Support Specialists (CLSS) and Business Banking Associates (BBA) on assigned tasks (excluding mortgage‑specific tasks).
  • Deliver training in person or virtually as needed.
  • Lead and contribute to projects requiring loan operations expertise.
  • Conduct research, testing, installation, monitoring, and ongoing project tasks independently.
  • Collaborate with Retail Learning, Customer & Employee Experience, Credit, and Compliance teams on product and software rollouts.
  • Work closely with Compliance to ensure procedures align with regulatory requirements.
  • Lead audit and examination preparation for the Loan Operations department with oversight from the Loan Operations Manager.
  • Assist lenders with pre‑closing due diligence for commercial and agriculture loans.
  • Process, upload, and fund loans, ensuring lien perfection and accurate documentation.
  • Perform post‑closing reviews, add ticklers, and complete quality assurance checks.
  • Support ongoing loan servicing across all business lines.
  • Provide feedback to improve QA processes.
  • Participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual loan file projects and reporting.
