About The Position

Triangle Federal Credit Union is seeking a highly experienced and member-focused Loan Officer to join our lending team. This role is responsible for originating, underwriting, and managing a diverse portfolio of consumer loans while delivering exceptional service to our members. Mortgage lending experience is a plus but not required. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of ten (10) years of lending experience, strong credit analysis skills, and a deep understanding of regulatory compliance and risk management within a financial institution environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of lending experience in a bank or credit union environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • Strong credit analysis and risk assessment skills.
  • Demonstrated decision-making ability with sound judgment and attention to detail.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal and state lending regulations.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • High ethical standards and commitment to member confidentiality.

Nice To Haves

  • Mortgage lending experience (preferred but not required).
  • Experience working in a credit union environment.
  • Leadership or mentoring experience within a lending team.
  • Familiarity with loan origination and core banking systems.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, originate, and underwrite consumer loan applications (auto, personal, credit card, home equity, and other secured/unsecured products) in accordance with credit union policies and regulatory guidelines.
  • Analyze credit reports, income documentation, financial statements, and collateral to assess creditworthiness and risk.
  • Make sound lending decisions within delegated authority and provide recommendations on complex loan requests.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations, including Fair Lending, ECOA, TILA, and BSA/AML requirements.
  • Maintain and manage an assigned loan portfolio, monitoring performance and addressing delinquencies as needed.
  • Provide clear guidance and financial education to members regarding loan products, rates, and terms.
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities and promote additional credit union products and services.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure accurate documentation, efficient processing, and timely funding.
  • Stay current with industry trends, internal policies, and regulatory changes.
