About The Position

Farm Credit of Southern Colorado (FCSC) is seeking a Loan Officer to join our team. The chosen candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with borrowers, servicing financial loans, initiating loan origination and servicing processes, and reviewing credit write-ups, decisions, and loan actions within individual and team authority levels. This position is full time, working approximately 40 hours a week, and is benefits eligible. Occasional travel may be required to sufficiently support other locations within territory. The Loan Officer I develops and maintains relationships with borrowers, identifies financial tools which provide value to borrower's business, gathers complete loan applications, initiates loan origination and servicing processes, reviews credit write-ups, decisions, and loan actions within individual and team authority levels, and services financial loans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in agriculture, business administration, finance, accounting or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job
  • Driver's license required
  • General knowledge of agricultural operations
  • General knowledge of agricultural markets
  • General knowledge of financial statements and mathematical concepts
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles, practices and methods
  • Working knowledge of Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook sufficient to create, update and save basic documents
  • Skill in oral and written communication, sufficient to exchange information effectively with peers, supervisor and borrowers
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining productive relationships within and outside of organizations
  • Skill in gathering, compiling and organizing information
  • Skill in listening closely to understand the speaker's intent
  • Skill in interacting and working effectively with others
  • Skill in focusing and concentrating on details
  • Skill in applying processes and procedures to factual data to make a logical decision

Responsibilities

  • Creates and maintains relationships with borrowers
  • Identifies opportunities to create new relationships
  • Communicates value of Association products and services to new and existing borrowers
  • Hosts events for new and existing borrowers
  • Attends conferences and events to market to new and existing borrowers
  • Interviews and gathers application information from borrowers
  • Initiates origination and servicing processes in loan software
  • Enters customer information, loan details and financial information into loan software
  • Delegates work to Credit Support Specialists
  • Collaborates with supervisor and peers to discuss options available for borrowers
  • Contacts external parties to finalize details for loan closing
  • Orders and reviews appraisals
  • Informs borrowers of loan decisions
  • Verifies completeness and accuracy of loan package and financial information presented by borrowers
  • Reviews financial analysis and credit write-ups
  • Identifies risk rating
  • Approves loans within individual and team authority levels
  • Refers loans outside credit authority levels to the Central Loan Committee
  • Reviews loan documents prior to closing
  • Administers loan closings to ensure complete execution of loan documents
  • Delivers executed documents to Operations Team
  • Monitors loan portfolio for customer delinquency
  • Addresses loan delinquency according to established policy and procedure
  • Responds to customer requests and questions related to loans
  • Collects annual financial information and initiates annual financial reviews
  • Evaluates borrower collateral/chattel annually
  • Approves servicing actions within delegated authority
  • Inspects and evaluates collateral to identify condition, accessibility and marketability
  • Researches comparable sales
  • Documents findings
  • Coordinates chattel inspections & appraisals with Appraisal department
  • Completes continuing education related to credit philosophies, policies and procedures, and regulations
  • Completes training regarding Association or software/hardware changes
