About The Position

The Loan Compliance Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements related to consumer and commercial lending. This position focuses on preventing unsafe or unethical conduct in lending practices and serves as a resource for other departments to maintain compliance with applicable laws. The specialist will assist in risk analysis, compliance management, and training, while also participating in the review of new loan products and handling complaints related to lending.

Requirements

  • Five to seven years of experience in monitoring compliance in lending operations.
  • 2-year Associates Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • High level of knowledge of commercial lending practices.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize job responsibilities effectively.
  • Strong communication skills for one-on-one interactions and problem resolution.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to define problems and draw conclusions.
  • Ability to write reports, correspondence, and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • CRCM or comparable certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the facilitation of procedures related to loan operations by communicating regulatory changes.
  • Assist in the development of an annual Compliance Risk Assessment and Compliance Review Schedule.
  • Identify and chart lending transaction processes and assess the adequacy of loan-related procedures.
  • Conduct risk-based loan reviews and determine root causes of identified issues.
  • Participate in the review of new loan-product offerings to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Assist with lending projects and conduct research as needed.
  • Maintain knowledge of the Graham Leach Bliley Act for Privacy and assist with investigations.
  • Assist in the development of record retention procedures for loan compliance.
  • Work with management to develop a regulatory compliance training program for lending employees.
  • Attend and conduct commercial lending-related meetings as needed.
  • Maintain knowledge of current loan-related policies and regulations.
  • Assist in the investigation of loan complaints and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Assist in the Vendor Management Program by sharing vendor-related information during reviews.
  • Gather requested loan-related documents for internal/external audits and assist in implementing corrective actions.
