The NGC Defense System is looking for Loads and Dynamics Structural Analysis Engineer (Experienced or Senior) in Northridge, California. The Loads and Dynamics Structural group within Flight Sciences is responsible for Missile level aeroelastic analyses (External Loads and Flutter) across the entire Missile life cycle – concept and configuration development, design, test, validation, certification, and in-service support. Each discipline within Loads and Dynamics uniquely couples aerodynamic and inertial forces with structural deformations, integrating a variety of skills from aerodynamics, structural dynamics and aeroservoelastics. Our engineers work closely with many other technical disciplines and organizations to integrate solutions to complex engineering problems and have both large impact and high visibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, mechanical, structural, civil or aerospace engineering or physics.
  • 8+ years of experience in an engineering classification or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • 12+ years of experience in an engineering classification or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Masters or a PhD degree in Mechanical, Structural, Civil or Aerospace Engineering or Physics.
  • Educational or work background in aerodynamics, aeroelasticity, computational Flutter Analysis, dynamics, maneuver load analysis, structural dynamics, modern control systems and/or finite element methods.
  • Interest and experience in computational methods.
  • Experience in programming languages such as Python.

Responsibilities

  • Works in a collaborative environment, performing Missile loads and flutter/structural analysis and tests, using aeroelastic methods to solve static, time history, and frequency domain analysis.
  • Develops test requirements, analyzes data and documents results for ground and flight test programs.
  • Computes aeroelastic loads, by using and developing analytical models that incorporate structural, aerodynamic, and control systems characteristics.
  • Assists in performing Missile level design, fatigue and damage tolerance analyses that meet defined requirements.
  • Performs aeroelastic stability analysis to ensure Missile level structural stability margin requirements are met.
  • Participates in definition and verification of Missile level vehicle design meets requirements, and documents results.
  • Communicates technical approaches, results, and recommendations to engineering teams, program leadership, and customers through oral presentations and technical writing.
