About The Position

The Boeing Commercial Airplanes Division is looking for Loads and Dynamics Analysis Engineer (Experienced or Senior) in Everett, Washington. The Loads and Dynamics organization within Flight Sciences is responsible for airplane level aeroelastic analyses (External Loads and Flutter) across the entire airplane life cycle - concept and configuration development, design, test, validation, certification, and in-service support. Each discipline within Loads and Dynamics uniquely couples aerodynamic and inertial forces with structural deformations, integrating a variety of skills from aerodynamics, structural dynamics and aeroservoelastics. Our engineers work closely with many other technical disciplines and organizations to integrate solutions to complex engineering problems and have both large impact and high visibility. Our team is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Experienced (Level 3) and Senior (Level 4) Loads and Dynamics Analysis Engineer.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, mechanical, structural, civil or aerospace engineering or physics.
  • 5+ years of experience in an engineering classification or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • 9+ years of experience in an engineering classification or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Masters or a PhD degree in Mechanical, Structural, Civil or Aerospace Engineering or Physics.
  • Educational or work background in aerodynamics, aeroelasticity, computational fluid dynamics, maneuver load analysis, structural dynamics, modern control systems and/or finite element methods.
  • Interest and experience in computational methods.
  • Experience in programming languages such as Python, Matlab, C++, Java or Fortran.

Responsibilities

  • Works in a collaborative environment, performing airplane level loads and flutter analysis and tests, using aeroelastic methods to solve static, time history, and frequency domain analysis.
  • Computes distributed aerodynamics and execute wind tunnel, ground and flight test programs, by developing test requirements, analyzing data and documenting results.
  • Computes aeroelastic loads, by using and developing analytical models that incorporate structural, aerodynamic, and control systems characteristics and assist in performing airplane level design, fatigue and damage tolerance analyses that meet defined requirements, to support airplane level vehicle design.
  • Performs aeroelastic stability analysis, by using and developing analytical models that incorporate structural, aerodynamic, and control systems characteristics, to ensure airplane level structural stability margin requirements are met.
  • Participates in definition and verification of airplane level vehicle design meets requirements, and documents results in order to substantiate structural integrity and show compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicates technical approaches, results, and recommendations to engineering teams, program leadership, and customers through oral presentations and technical writing.
