About The Position

The Loader is responsible for efficiently and safely loading and unloading materials, products, or cargo onto and off trucks, containers, or storage areas. This role ensures that items are properly handled, secured, and organized to facilitate smooth and effective transportation and storage operations. Complete a daily forklift inspection report at the start of each shift. Report any deficiencies that would not allow safe use of the equipment immediately to the shipping supervisor. Loaders will work with an order picker as a team and will share responsibilities of each load to which they are assigned. Loaders are required to complete a trailer checklist prior to loading. If deficiencies are found with the refrigeration unit or interior of the trailer, they are to be reported to the shipping supervisor before any loading occurs. Loaders will use scanners to ship the product to customers’ order numbers, build pallet tags, make pallet inquiries, unship product from an order, transfer product to various warehouses and for customer returns of products. Loaders may be required to help stack product by hand and hand wrap pallets. Loaders are responsible for keeping the dock clean and free from debris. Loaders will complete a trailer load sheet as loading occurs listing order numbers, total case counts for each order, the orders net weight and total pallet counts for each order. The loader will record product codes on each pallet, number of cases of each product code on the pallet, placement of the pallet within the trailer, record the location of any temperature recorders and record the seal number used on the trailer. Once loading has been completed all paperwork will be turned over to the billing clerks. When loading combo bins the loader will scan each combo to an order number and record the placement of each combo number inside the trailer on a trailer load sheet. NOTE: this description is not intended to be all inclusive. An employee may perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization; these duties are considered marginal.
