Job Identification When performing Loader Operator duties, this person will operate a rubber-tired tractor with a front-mounted hydraulic bucket to lift and transport bulk materials to storage, processing areas, conveyors, hoppers, and chutes to support daily plant operations. Perform equipment checks, load materials, keep work areas clean, and assist with plant maintenance. Description Perform pre-trip inspection of all equipment used in accordance with Ernst standard practices, including fluids such as oil and antifreeze Operate loader economically (Shut loader off when not in use) Visualize or listen for plant defects, air leaks, bearing & roller noises, etc. Add various ingredients such as rock, sand, and other products as directed Visually inspect aggregate shape and size and report problems to QC or Plant Manager Drain moisture traps, fill oilers, and maintain lubricants in the air compressor Maintain a clean ramp, and area beneath loading plant hoppers by shoveling or hosing area clean Break down and reset block forms. Move blocks to storage area. Blow dust collector pod and hose off dust collector shroud as needed Keep tankers blown off and load bins full at all times Refuel water truck, skid steer, and loader every evening or as needed Maintain auto greaser on all equipment Maintain concrete re-claimer and the surrounding area by keeping it free of excess debris Observe all safety requirements and policies while operating vehicles and performing all tasks Additional Expectations Keep plant maintenance up to date, such as but not limited to, trash picked up or yard work, etc. Ensure tool shed and watershed are swept clean and organized Physical Demands Lift 80 pounds, including but not limited to lift chutes and other related CMV/job related items. Able to regularly climb heights of up 13 feet on a ready-mix truck, using the truck steps and ladder, work on a truck catwalk at an elevated height, in a ready-mix truck you must step down into the truck cab. May be required to climb ladders and catwalks that may be between 6-110 feet above the ground Ability to climb, balance, kneel, crouch, and crawl Environmental Conditions Must be able to tolerate, with or without accommodation: Exposure to extreme weather conditions High noise levels and significant vibrations associated with construction equipment and overall job site activities Walking and working of varied rough terrain conditions May be exposed to construction related chemicals, this environment can include, but is not limited to, dust and other typical industrial conditions. Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent Valid State-Issued Driver’s License, Class A or B Candidates must be willing and able to undergo a pre-employment background check, MVR overview, physical/DOT and drug/alcohol testing. Ongoing compliance is required. Proficiently read, write, and speak English. Ability to understand and read GPS from company issued tablet. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with internal and external stakeholders, including: Management, supervisors, and peers People at various social levels Demonstrate the ability to perform job functions in accordance with Company policies and management directives, including adherence to personal appearance standards, safety protocols, and P.P.E. requirements, while promptly reporting any unsafe conditions, accidents, or incidents to the plant manager. Must be able to take orders, instructions and guidance from management and supervisors Proficient basic math skills, e.g. addition, subtraction, fractions, and percentages Must be insurable by Company’s insurance carrier and not have points on license more than the Company’s acceptable policy. Required to have an active phone with texting or email capabilities to ensure reliable communication during work hours (Note: Usage must comply with the Ernst Cell Phone Policy, Federal, & State regulations and may not interfere with safe operation of company vehicles).
