About The Position

O'Neal Steel has an opening for a 3rd shift Loader at our Shelbyville, IN facility. The Loader will load and unload material within a warehouse. Utilizes hand trucks, forklifts, overhead cranes, conveyors, spotter trucks and trailers or other handling equipment to move material to and from trucks or trains and within the storage facility. Has knowledge of commonly used practices, and procedures. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.

Requirements

• Ability to operate a wide variety of material handling equipment including forklift, overhead crane, stacker crane, side loader, yard dog, etc.
• Critical thinking skills for planning and problem-solving.
• Strong understanding of load balancing to meet DOT weight regulations for legal and over dimensional loads.
• Ability to use a variety of hand tools including grinder, bander, drill, hammer, pliers, screwdriver, wrench, etc.
• Ability to accurately read a tape measure.
• Ability to learn and retain a large range of product knowledge, standard handling and rigging procedures across all products.
• Responsible for providing high quality work to all internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload material within a warehouse.
• Utilize hand trucks, forklifts, overhead cranes, conveyors, spotter trucks and trailers or other handling equipment to move material.
• Safely load multi-stop loads for customer delivery.
• Verify the accuracy of material, quantity, packaging and other special instructions for each order being shipped.
• Perform loading duties 70% of the time or greater.
• Maintain a safe and organized work area.
• Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
