The Load Planner is responsible for building, planning, and assigning daily outbound and inbound shipments using a Transportation Management System (TMS). This role involves optimizing routing and equipment utilization to ensure timely and efficient delivery while minimizing transportation costs. The planner reviews orders, consolidates shipments, and determines the best mode and carrier assignment, ensuring alignment with required delivery dates and customer-specific delivery guidelines. The position requires coordination and communication with carriers, warehouse operations, and customer service to confirm load details, resolve scheduling conflicts, and monitor in-transit loads for on-time performance. Key responsibilities also include maintaining accurate shipment data in TMS and supporting systems, validating shipping documents, and ensuring compliance with company SOPs and carrier contracts. The role tracks key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time pickup/delivery and cost per load, analyzes trends to identify bottlenecks, recommends process improvements, and supports carrier performance reviews and logistics optimization initiatives.
