Under general supervision, the Load Builder I performs routine loading and unloading of materials within a yard or work site. This role involves assembling load packages into trucks for delivery to customer job sites, including installing strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage during transit. The individual will drive various lifting devices, such as forklifts, to move products, equipment, or materials around the warehouse, shop, or yard. A key aspect of the position is load-building, which requires determining the appropriate weight, composition, and placement of the load based on customer orders and the delivery vehicle's capacity to ensure the load is balanced and safe for hauling. Additionally, the role involves conveying materials to or from storage to designated areas using equipment like hand trucks, electric dollies, or forklifts, and attaching identifying tags or labels to materials or marking information on containers for correct item identification.
