About The Position

Working at a plant with other plant operators, the candidate will serve as the plant maintenance mechanic for the Company’s Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) systems. This position requires a well-rounded individual with strong mechanical experience willing to be trained to perform all duties in accordance with prescribed safety, regulatory, and standard operating policies and procedures. This individual will also be trained in plant operations and will serve as a backup/relief plant operator.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • One year experience working and performing maintenance in a plant environment; LNG and/or cryogenic plant experience a plus.
  • Must have good basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic theory and application and be able to learn and use manuals and other resources to apply that knowledge in the requirements of the job.
  • High level of comfort in safely working on live equipment.
  • Ability to perform work without supervision and to think clearly under unexpected circumstances.
  • Ability to understand and analyze complex systems.
  • Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office software, and the ability to make simple mathematical computations.
  • Must be able to monitor systems via computer screens.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other Stabilis employees, and customers.
  • Ability to read ladder type electrical schematics and loop diagrams.
  • Ability to operate a forklift and manlift.
  • Ability to read, understand and comprehend service manuals, owner's manuals, written procedures, and other company documentation. Ability to use and maintain personal protective equipment (i.e., safety toe boots, hard hat, flame retardant clothing, ear/eye protection, etc.).
  • Ability to pass drug screening and occupational medical exam, and a background check.
  • Ability to obtain TX Railroad Commission Certificate within 30 days (assistance will be provided)
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

  • - Valve Actuators (Pneumatic, Motorized, Solenoid)
  • - Position Feedback Systems
  • - Fixed and Variable Speed Motors
  • - Heaters
  • - Pumps
  • - Compressors
  • - Vacuum and/or Refrigeration Systems
  • - Pressure Relief Valves

Nice To Haves

  • Experience handling gas cylinders and pressure regulators a plus.
  • Experience with cryogenic refrigeration, gas processing, and/or steam preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, operates, repairs, inspects, and maintains all LNG plant equipment including compressors (centrifugal and reciprocating), engines, heat exchangers, vaporizers, pumps, hazard detection devices (UV, heat, smoke, spill, and gas detectors).
  • Maintains and services cryogenic pumping systems, mechanical piping, valves, and pressure relief systems.
  • Completes systems and job specific facility operations training and certification sessions as assigned.
  • Identifies components on a piping and instrumentation diagram (P&ID) and locates the items at the plant.
  • Reads, understands, and comprehends service and owner manuals, written standard operating procedures (SOPs) and other company documentation.
  • Follows system commissioning activities and conducts periodic monitoring and inspection of systems.
  • Responds to emergency shutdowns as required.
  • Prepares all maintenance and operation logs, forms, and reports accurately and legibly.
  • Operates computerized control systems and desktop computer as needed.
  • Requisitions needed materials in compliance with company procedures.
  • Communicates effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ensures good housekeeping is being maintained at the LNG facility.
  • Conducts inspections of the plant and components as specified by applicable codes or by supervisor.
  • Calibrates all devices related to LNG plant operations using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, etc.
  • Troubleshoots all mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic devices and systems.
  • Assists with performing plant operations; monitoring systems from the control room of the plant facilities, including the coordination of LNG truck loading, as needed.
  • Ensures all company and customer safety and environmental procedures are followed.
  • Completes systems and job specific facility operations training and certification sessions as assigned.
  • Adheres to safety procedures, protocols, and regulations while performing maintenance tasks.
  • Identifies potential safety hazards and implement measures to mitigate risks associated with electrical operations.
  • Coordinates with other maintenance personnel, engineers, and operations staff to schedule maintenance activities, prioritize tasks, and optimize plant performance. Provides technical expertise and support for ongoing projects and initiatives.
  • Cross-trains in plant operations and may assist the instrumentation & electrical technician.
  • Maintains safe and compliant work practices.
