The Towanda Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Facility, located in Wyalusing, PA, produces 50,000 gallons of natural gas per day and features a storage capacity of 180,000 gallons. This facility is vital to supporting the Northeast's energy demands with cost-effective and reliable solutions. Opportunity Summary The LNG Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Technician at the Towanda LNG Facility will operate and maintain liquified natural gas (LNG) equipment and systems. This role involves monitoring, inspecting, troubleshooting, and performing routine maintenance on turbines and auxiliary equipment while ensuring compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements. The position provides hands-on experience in diagnostics, emergency response, and operational excellence, contributing directly to the plant’s high-performance operations and energy reliability. Your scope of responsibility as LNG O&M Technician includes the following primary functions: Operate the control room, perform field activities, and conduct maintenance to ensure safe and reliable LNG plant performance. Perform mechanical, electrical, electronic, and instrumentation work, including installation, repair, and maintenance of pumps, engines, motors, fans, hoists, compressors, piping, valves, filters, traps, meters, and related equipment. Monitor and document equipment readings, identify abnormal conditions or alarms, and take prescribed corrective actions, including activating emergency systems when necessary. Operate all plant systems and equipment involved in liquefaction, vaporization, trucking, and standby modes. Maintain plant operations, security, and emergency readiness independently, and promptly notify supervision of abnormal conditions. Read and interpret electrical schematics, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and process flow diagrams (PFDs). Calibrate pneumatic and electronic instrumentation and record results in accordance with calibration procedures. Complete work orders for inspections, preventive maintenance, and corrective maintenance activities. Manage spare parts inventory, reporting shortages and re-order needs. Perform general facility upkeep, including cleaning, painting, pipe fitting, carpentry, masonry, and insulation tasks. Work rotating shifts to support vaporization, liquefaction, trucking, and other operational periods. Complete required company-sponsored training and maintain necessary certifications. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Physical requirements include standing for extended periods of time, climbing stairs and ladders, working from elevated platforms and walkways at varying heights, and routinely lifting up to 50 pounds. The LNG facility environment may involve entering confined spaces, crawling through narrow areas, and handling hazardous materials, with exposure to fumes, cryogenic temperatures, extreme weather conditions, and noise. Work may include high heat near equipment as well as varying outdoor weather conditions at the Port of Tacoma. Some duties may require the use of protective equipment, which can include hard hats, safety glasses, and eye protection, air masks/respirators, ear protection, chemical suits, flame-resistant clothing (FRC), cryogenic PPE, hot gloves, high-voltage protective gear, and fall protection. Fit testing for respirators may be required. Strict smoking restrictions apply in and around the facility. Fitness for Duty All personnel will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program, which includes a post-offer physical examination, drug screening, and post-employment random drug screening. Work Schedule The LNG O&M Technician work schedule consists of 12-hour rotating shifts: seven consecutive day shifts followed by seven days off, then seven consecutive night shifts followed by another seven days off. Shift schedules may be adjusted as needed based on dispatch requirements. This position will also occasionally necessitate extended working hours and flexible shifts as needed, including weekends and holidays, in response to schedules, workload demands, and plant conditions. Periodic callouts or “On call” status may also be required. Compensation This position offers a base pay rate ranging from $32 to $48.88 per hour, along with eligibility for an annual performance bonus. Core Qualifications and Skills We are looking for a skilled Technician with experience in power generation operations and maintenance, coupled with a proven ability to contribute effectively to team success and consistently meet performance standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in process technology, power plant technology, chemistry, engineering, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Relevant industry or military experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Working knowledge of LNG process equipment, including pumps, compressors, storage and vaporization systems, auxiliary engines, pneumatic and electronic controls, and associated plant instrumentation.
  • Solid understanding of safety protocols, environmental regulations, Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures, OSHA requirements, and hazardous materials handling.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with operations, maintenance, contractors, and vendors to support scheduled maintenance, corrective work, and timely completion of tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with technical writing, communication, and mathematical aptitude sufficient to document operations, maintenance activities, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Must possess a valid, unrestricted U.S. driver’s license and ensure it remains in good standing at all times.

Nice To Haves

  • Industrial trade training in valve maintenance, reciprocating and screw compressors, PLC systems, electrical motors, and low/medium voltage circuits preferred.
  • Previous experience in LNG or industrial gas operations strongly preferred.
