The LMS (Plato) Training Specialist at Westfield State University is a full-time, permanent position within the Center for Instructional Technology (CIT). This role is essential in providing training and support for the university's online learning systems, specifically the Learning Management System (LMS) known as PLATO, as well as other integrated programs such as BlackBoard Learn, D2L Brightspace, and Panopto. The specialist will work closely with faculty and students to ensure they can effectively participate in their online courses. This position also involves managing the 24/7 PLATO Support Help Desk, which requires availability during nights and weekends. The specialist will assist in supervising student employees and interns, ensuring they receive the necessary training and support to fulfill their roles effectively. In addition to training and support, the LMS (Plato) Training Specialist will be responsible for developing training resources that comply with accessibility standards, specifically WCAG 2.1 Level AA. This includes creating training videos and tutorials for students and faculty, as well as managing the video streaming process in Panopto. The specialist will also handle various administrative tasks, including maintaining budget records, managing CIT supplies, and updating the CIT and PLATO websites. This role requires a strong commitment to customer service and the ability to work collaboratively across departments to enhance the online learning experience for all users. The LMS (Plato) Training Specialist will report directly to the Director of the Center for Instructional Technology and will play a crucial role in the ongoing development and support of online learning initiatives at Westfield State University.
