About The Position

The JBS Pork team is seeking a 2nd Shift Livestock Supervisor

Requirements

  • Be able to communicate written and verbally in English.
  • Be able to work all 3 shifts as needed/ 12 hours required at times
  • Computer skills required
  • Extensive knowledge and technical skill in a variety of production jobs.
  • Supervisory skills; good interpersonal relations; ability to handle conflict.
  • Good verbal and written communications skills.

Responsibilities

  • Verify that all humane handling SOPs are being carried out, including scheduling, unloading, training, handling of non-ambulatory animals, driving & stunning.
  • Monitor, audit & document each of these activities.
  • Collect information on sources of high stress animals in order to provide feedback for improvement by the supplying producers.
  • Ensure that livestock truck drivers are certified in TQA training, provide training as required & maintain training records.
  • Assist with contingency planning & providing proper care for animals in event of major plant delays.
  • Serve as facility liaison for USDA-FSIS in matters related to humane handling.
  • Receive and evaluate hogs as they arrive to the plant.
  • Ensure that animals are being properly transported by monitoring equipment and seasonal preparation, working with procurement to provide timely notification producers.
  • Monitor animas for visible defects, which may affect yields or quality, providing information to procurement feedback to producers.
  • Comply with relevant laws, rules and procedures, including packers and stockyards act and humane handling.
  • Supervise union and salary nonexempt employees.
