Management Level: Class 45 Job Summary The Livestock Handler is responsible for the safe, efficient, and humane movement of hogs with minimal stress to the animals. This position requires strict adherence to Tyson Foods’ humane handling policies and all applicable animal welfare guidelines. The Livestock Handler performs assigned duties as directed by supervision while maintaining a strong commitment to personal safety, animal welfare, and food safety. All Tyson Team Members share responsibility for maintaining a safe work environment and protecting product integrity.

Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of+1-year prior experience working with and handling livestock in loading and unloading operations as well as experience with skid loaders and forklift operation is required.
  • Computer Skills: Basic computer knowledge is preferred.
  • Communication Skills: Good communication skills both written and verbal; ability to communicate with all levels of team members and government officials.
  • Special Skills: Must be able to work in a very fast paced environment.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 70 pounds or more unassisted and stand for extended periods of time 8 to 10 hours excluding beak time.
  • Internal disqualifiers 6 attendance points
  • Any suspension on record in the last 12 months

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with livestock handling in a procurement area of the meat industry is preferred.
  • Prior knowledge and experience with humane animal handling procedures process and general policy in procurement is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Safely move and handle hogs in accordance with Tyson Foods’ humane handling policies and procedures
  • Load and unload livestock while minimizing animal stress and ensuring animal well-being
  • Operate equipment such as skid loaders and forklifts when required
  • Monitor animal conditions and report concerns to supervision promptly
  • Follow all safety, biosecurity, and food safety guidelines at all times
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor
