We create spaces that bring people together, and our Summer Music Series is one of the ways we turn that mission into something people can feel. About the Role As our Live Sound Technician, you'll help bring weekly outdoor performances to life at our Salt Lake Gym. This is a seasonal part-time role paying $20/hr, focused on supporting The Front's Summer Music Series and other events from setup through teardown. You'll work closely with performers and our Events Team to make sure every show runs smoothly and sounds sharp. This is a hands-on role for someone who knows live audio, communicates clearly, and can keep things running when the unexpected happens.

Requirements

  • Have at least 5 years of relevant experience in sound, audio engineering, live music, event production, trade training, higher education, or a combination of those
  • Know your way around mixing consoles, microphones, amplifiers, speakers, and signal-processing tools
  • Can troubleshoot fast and stay composed in live event settings
  • Communicate well with performers, coworkers, and guests
  • Are comfortable working evenings and a seasonal event schedule
  • Care about delivering a strong experience for both artists and audiences
  • Can lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds
  • Stay organized, reliable, and detail-oriented
  • Like building systems, checklists, and cleaner ways of working
  • Understand that great events depend on teamwork and strong customer experience

Responsibilities

  • Set up, configure, test, and break down sound equipment for live events
  • Run sound checks with bands and performers to dial in levels, EQ, and overall mix
  • Manage live audio during performances and make real-time adjustments as needed
  • Troubleshoot technical issues quickly to reduce interruptions and keep the event on track
  • Perform basic maintenance and minor repairs on sound gear
  • Keep the sound equipment area clean, organized, and ready for use
  • Coordinate with the Events Team, musicians, and staff on timing, sound needs, and performance flow
  • Help manage set timing, including starts, breaks, and end times
  • Move tables, chairs, and other event items as needed to support setup and audience flow
  • Communicate equipment needs, technical concerns, and event-related updates to the Event Manager
