About The Position

The Jacksonville office of Lippes Mathias LLP is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Paralegal to join our Litigation Group. The ideal candidate with have a strong understanding of commercial litigation procedures and state and federal discovery rules. This role involves managing case files, preparing legal documents, conducting research, and coordinating with clients, courts, and other stakeholders. From individuals and closely held companies to large corporations, our litigators represent clients in many state, federal and appellate courts, as well as governmental/administrative boards, agencies, and arbitration and mediation panels. Specific litigation focus areas for this Paralegal role include commercial, contract, construction and personal injury. The successful candidate will support the team in reviewing and processing legal documents and assisting with matters related to litigation.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience as a Litigation Paralegal
  • Accurate typing speed of 65+ wpm
  • General office and computer experience
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure
  • Reliable attendance
  • Experience with editing, revising and drafting of legal documents
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal court rules
  • Working knowledge of Pacer Systems and ECF
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to complete projects with little direction
  • Ability to use discretion and handle confidential information
  • Ability to meet deadlines and produce high quality work products
  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Experience with document management systems such as ProLaw and iManage

Nice To Haves

  • Trial support experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the formatting/drafting/filing/serving of pleadings and legal documents
  • Docket and monitor calendar(s) with Case Management, Trial, and other critical deadlines
  • File legal documents with the State and Federal Electronic Court Filing Systems
  • Prepare, organize, and manage discovery and responsive documents
  • Prepare deposition summaries
  • Assist with case investigations
  • Create/maintain electronic directories
  • Create/maintain filing
  • Prepare and send out transmittal letters
  • Save, print, scan, and file all transmittal documents on each file
  • Delivery Requests when necessary
