The Litigation Paralegal role is perfect for a proactive, organized, responsive, tech-savvy, self-motivated individual that enjoys being the point person for investigating and responding to all subpoenas received by the company. To succeed in this role, one must be detail-oriented, adaptable, able to work with changing priorities and deadlines, communicate well with a wide variety of personnel, and energized by tackling problems and devising solutions. The Litigation Team is a results-oriented team with a positive culture in a collaborative environment that, upon successful performance in the first 90 days, allows a hybrid work schedule to work remotely up to two days per week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent professional related experience of 3-5 years preferred
  • Adept in MS Office 365 (Excel, Word, Teams, and PowerPoint) and Acrobat
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong office technology knowledge and experience
  • Independent, self-motivated, confident, organized, tech-savvy, calm in the face of a high volume of requests
  • Resourceful in seeking information and documents from internal company resources and external legal counsel

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise with document management systems and matter management systems such as Navex EthicsPoint, NetDocuments and/or Legal Tracker a plus

Responsibilities

  • Monitor Legal Correspondence and Legal Holds inboxes for the receipt of subpoenas, preservation requests, and other legal correspondence
  • Identify time-sensitive requests, consult with counsel as needed, and route or respond to requests for guidance from field and corporate personnel
  • Timely investigate all documents, information, and witnesses relevant to subpoena requests
  • Assess preservation requests to determine vehicle status, role of requesting party, and preliminary measures or information needed
  • Timely implement legal holds on vehicles in response to qualifying preservation requests and respond to preservation requests with applicable vehicle and seller data
  • Collaborate with counsel regarding scope and objections to subpoenas, obtain or confirm any necessary extension to respond, and prepare any testifying witnesses
  • Timely enter and track all data associated with subpoenas received using Navex Ethics Point database to confirm compliance
  • Gather and collate into a bates-stamped PDF all responsive records, prepare draft responses to subpoenas, send final responses, issue invoices for subpoena fees, and sign business records affidavits as needed
  • Save to NetDocuments all records gathered in response to supboenas or related to legal holds
  • Field legal questions and coach employees to resolve business issues directly
  • Timely escalate service of process of legal filings
  • Remove legal holds on vehicles as warranted
  • Collaborate with relevant corporate departments, serving as a positive ambassador of the Legal Department consistent with company values
  • Other duties as assigned
