About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Litigation Paralegal to join our dynamic personal injury legal team. This role is responsible for managing key aspects of litigation, with a primary focus on mass tort cases, client communication, and overall case management under the guidance of the senior paralegal and attorneys. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. A proactive approach, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment are essential for success in this role.

Requirements

  • Highschool diploma required, Associate's degree preferred.
  • Must have demonstrated experience managing mass tort cases.
  • One to two (1-2) years of experience in a legal setting as a case manager, paralegal, or similar role in pre-litigation or litigation within a personal injury law firm.
  • Proficiency in legal research, drafting legal documents, and familiarity with legal procedures and terminology.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, legal research databases, and case management software.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to manage multiple tasks, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be fluent English for both written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and a high-volume caseload with precision.
  • Demonstrate a high level of reliability and integrity; consistenly follow through on committements.
  • Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills to identify issues and support case strategy.
  • Clear and professional written and verbal communication with clients, attorneys, and external parties.
  • Proven ability to manage and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Expert proficiency in legal case management systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and electronic filing systems.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a mass tort caseload of 600-800 cases across various types of personal injury cases such as medical devices, product liability, toxic tort, and other plaintiff injuries.
  • Review case files for completeness, identify missing documents, medical records, or information, and ensure the accuracy and proper filing of all case-related materials.
  • Oversee the progression of mass tort caseload, keeping client files updated with accurate information, progress notes and essential paperwork, using the Case Management System to open new cases and manage progress.
  • Maintain and build client relationships, including but not limited to conducting interviews, providing status updates or requesting additional documents as needed.
  • Investigate and substantiate claims by verifying the completeness and accuracy of claims against supporting documentation. Review records to confirm the claimant's exposure to the mass tort mechanism of injury Records/Billing Requests and Follow-up
  • Oversee the collection, summarization, and maintenance of medical and billing records in preparation for litigation, ensuring all relevant records are organized and accessible. Request and follow up with providers, NARA (National Archives and Records Administration), and other government entities or private employers, for client or case records and bills.
  • Review and analyze defendant and third-party discovery as necessary. Identify potential issues with claims during both initial and substantiation stages
  • Support the creation of full and complete settlement memorandums ensuring accurate accounting of case finances and client disbursement of funds.
  • Ensure the proper accounting of liens and medical provider balances. Negotiate reduction of liens and account balances as necessary to accommodate state pro-rata requirements.
  • Schedule and manage discovery or other deadlines for cases with the assigned attorneys and calendar appointments, townhalls, or meeting with clients as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and detail-oriented digital records for every case.
  • Maintain clear, professional, and proactive communication with clients regarding discovery requests, case updates, and strategic developments. Serve documents on opposing counsel.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in filing legal documents with state and trial courts. Manage the service of process for legal documents in compliance with court procedures.
  • Provide backup to Administrative Assistants, covering responsibilities during staff absences or vacancies.
  • Perform any other tasks as required to support the efficient and effective management of ongoing litigation cases.
